Does the attendance system work without internet?
Yes. Teachers can mark attendance in the Skoo mobile app during load-shedding or network outages. Records are stored locally and sync automatically the moment connectivity returns — no data loss.
How are parents notified about attendance?
The moment attendance is marked, parents get a push notification on the parent app included with paid plans in under 5 seconds, with SMS fallback and Urdu message support. Absences trigger a separate alert.
Is face recognition attendance safe for student privacy?
Face recognition is strictly opt-in and requires written parent consent. Skoo stores only 512-dimension mathematical embeddings, never raw photos, and all data stays on Pakistan-hosted servers.
Can staff attendance be tracked too?
Yes. Staff check in and out from the Skoo app with a selfie, and the server confirms they are inside the school area using GPS. Staff can also scan their ID card at the gate or use a fingerprint machine. Principals see the day with selfies and times, correct entries by hand, and get a monthly attendance sheet.
How does QR ID card attendance work at the school gate?
Skoo prints ID cards with a signed QR code for each student and staff member. A phone, laptop webcam or USB QR scanner at the gate reads the card: the first scan marks the student present or late and notifies the parent, the next scan records departure.
