School library software with fines on the fee account

Skoo catalogues your books, issues them to students with a due date, and takes them back. If a book is late, the fine is added to that student's fees, so the library and the accountant use the same record.

Catalogue

Add books with title, author, ISBN and subject, and the number of copies. Search by any of them. Each book shows how many copies are available.

Issue and return

  1. 1

Pick the book and the student, and set the due date.

  2. 2

When the book comes back, press return.

  3. 3

If it is late, Skoo works out the fine from the days late and adds it to the student's fee account. The default is Rs 10 for each day.

Connected to the rest of the school

Books still out are listed as dues when you issue a school leaving certificate, so a student does not leave with a library book. The library staff have their own dashboard showing what is issued and what is overdue.

Good to know: what it does not do

  • Skoo does not scan barcodes yet. You pick the book from the list.
  • The fine is a daily amount. It does not change by class or by book.

Questions, answered.

Where do library fines go?

They are added to the student's fee account, so they show up on the next challan.

Can staff borrow books?

Books are issued to students.

Can I stop a leaving certificate if a book is out?

The certificate screen lists books out as dues. The principal can still issue it with a written reason.
